Augmented reality
——————————————-

The world lives to the daily rhythm of discoveries in the field of technology. Every day, new and innovative ways are developed to increase the standard of living. There are many technological developments in the world today. In simple terms, augmented reality can be defined as an enhanced version of reality. Augmented reality is also called mixed reality. Unlike virtual reality, augmented reality does not attempt to bypass the real world by transporting you to another world. Instead, it is about enhancing the real world with a series of tools that could be considered as magical virtual objects. A very good example of augmented reality is the Google Street Map which helps people navigate through different areas.

In simple terms, augmented reality is about supplementing or augmenting a person’s reality with computer images. In other words, AR adds something to our current reality. Most images are usually followed by movement. For example, most people tend to use Snapchat filters to enhance their photos or videos, which can be considered a primitive form of augmented reality. In augmented reality, the difference between augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR) is that augmented reality allows for the creation of a new and enhanced world where virtual information is used as a tool that can assist in everyday activities.

Augmented reality is growing in popularity, from surgical procedures to social media filters. Augmented reality has been able to expand into different areas of everyday life, such as the following:

AR has been able to improve classroom teaching, the learning experience has been improved through AR. For example, teaching and learning have been improved through different applications. One such application is the Arusma application, which facilitates learning by allowing students to have a magnified view of their classroom.
AR is also currently used in field services for rapid diagnosis and repair. Whether it is a simple diagnosis such as a washing machine or the most difficult and complex cases such as a wind turbine, AR is being used for quick and efficient diagnosis and repair.
Public safety: AR is also making progress in the field of public safety. In emergency situations, most people tend to look for answers in their mobile phones, as they search for the next steps to take to stay safe. AR is still progressing in the field of public safety. For example, in natural disasters and other emergencies, first responders try to determine who needs help and how best to get it. With AR, first responders can determine who is most at risk and how to reach them, as well as get others to safety.
Modelling and design: AR already plays an important role in modelling and design, from architecture to interior design. AR headsets can be used to model buildings, even cities, and even make changes on site virtually.
Medical training: AR is used in medical training, ranging from the use of medical equipment to complex medical surgical procedures. With AR technology, medical training can be taken to a new level, as new heights and depths can be reached.
The list is endless when it comes to AR. Augmented reality continues to extend its tentacles into almost every area of life. AR can be divided into several categories, such as

Marker-based
Markerless Augmented Reality
Projection Augmented Reality
Overlay-based augmented reality
Although AR has been around for a long time, it is a relatively new technology that is still being explored to enhance the environment and life.
